Shiatsu is a Japanese massage style, incorporating the use of pressure points. Shiatsu principles are similar to those of acupressure and acupuncture.

The objective of Shiatsu is to strengthen Tsubos (points) that are Kyo (weak) and soften Tsubos that are Jitsu (stagnant), thereby restoring a smooth energy flow which is essential to health and wellbeing.

Shiatsu can be practised in a variety of ways (as all massage therapies can be) for musculoskeletal or systemic problems.

At Healthwise, our massage therapists tend to use Shiatsu in combination with other massage techniques.

Shiatsu is mainly for deep tissue muscular problems such as sciatica and frozen shoulder as well as for systemic problems such as P.M.S., Endometriosis, Prostatic Hypertrophy, Bladder weakness, Indigestion and Abdominal bloating.

Shiatsu is a safe and effective massage technique that is offered at Healthwise, by itself or in conjunction with acupuncture.
